Robert R. Prechter, CMT

CEO, Elliott Wave International

Robert Prechter CMT, is CEO of Elliott Wave International, an independent market analysis firm. He is also Founder of Socionomics Institute.

Robert has written 20 books on finance, beginning with Elliott Wave Principle in 1978, which predicted a 1920s-style stock market boom. In January 2022, Prechter’s Last Chance to Conquer the Crash (www.elliottwave.com/books) offers strategies for financial safety in a bear market. In The Socionomic Theory of Finance (2006), Prechter detailed a paradigm for financial markets that differs in every substantive way from the paradigm borrowed from economics. In July 2007, The Journal of Behavioral Finance published “The Financial/Economic Dichotomy: A Socionomic Perspective,” by Prechter and his colleague, Dr. Wayne Parker. In 2012, Sage Open published Prechter et. al’s “Social Mood, Stock Market Performance, and U.S. Presidential Elections: A Socionomic Perspective on Voting Results,” which became the third-most-downloaded paper on the Social Science Research Network (SSRN) website in 2012.

His most recently completed project is an investigation into the true authors behind pseudonyms used in Elizabethan-era England, posted at www.oxfordsvoices.com. Robert attended Yale University on a full scholarship and received a B.A. in psychology.
